From the Forest

Forests and trees have been the major inspiration as well as source of materials for these works. The European Beech tree has provided the germ of much creativity; from its tiny saplings on the forest floor up to majestic elegant branches; from the pointed buds of wintertime, to the leafy canopies of sunshade in summer - the forest is truly an exciting place.

Alder Growth

Pine cones from the Alder tree and branches on dyed tea bags

The pods from the Alder Tree look like mini pine cones. These cluster together, elegantly twisting and turning from branches in many directions. It is the growth that features in this work, extending from a central point. The natural stains on the dried tea bags seem to echo this growth. Some of these lines have been enhanced with watercolour.

Branching Out

Forest branches, silk painting, tea bags, seed pods and embroidery

This piece was created for a mini-textile exhibition entitled 'Celebration'. It is a celebration of textures and forms in the natural environment. The branches create a grid showcasing each mini work within.
